DV 107 Anything Goes

We have a nice easy challenge for you this time around at Dream Valley as it’s Anything Goes. We are sponsored by Sherri Baldy and the team were given some of her images to work with.

107 Anything Goes

I coloured my image with copics. The papers are all from Nitwit Designs and were free with a magazine…. have you noticed the ‘using up the freebies’ trend I am exercising right now, lol.

The pearl string is from my stash. The birds on the banner were on a string, and I trimmed them off to sit on the banner.

#139 Shaped Card

It’s challenge time again at Crafty Cardmakers and it’s my turn to host. I would love to see all your shaped cards.

I chose one of my favourite shapes for my card, Spellbinders Labels 25.

139 Shaped Card

I cut three card blanks with the largest of the dies, and also cut some patterned paper from the Prima Firefly pad, which I covered one of the blanks with. With the Spellbinders Majestic Labels 25 I cut into one of the other blanks and layered it over the top of the one with the patterned paper. I did it this way because I gutted the paper to get the central design, also cut from the Majestic Labels 25, and I needed it to look neat on the inside of the card so in effect I sandwiched a frame of the patterned paper between two pieces of white card. I could of course have just cut a frame with the larger of the Maj Labels dies, but I find I am not that accurate so it’s easier to layer some paper over the top to give the impression of a frame.

The butterflies are a Joycraft die cut from some foiled cardstock, and the sentiment comes from a Craftwork Cards kit.

ABC J for Jewels

Welcome to another challenge from ABC. This time we would like to see your jewel bedecked creations. We are sponsored by All Dressed Up and the team were lucky enough to get some of their fabulous images to work with, but I used one I already had called Festival Time

ABC J Jewels 1

My papers are from First Edition’s Hideaway pad, these particular ones are glittered.

ABC J Jewels Image

I coloured her with my copics.

ABC J Jewels Angle

You can see the glitter better on the pic above and also all the jewels I added both to the card itself and her dress, hair and adorning the butterflies.

I added a Joycrafts Butterfly border and a sentiment from CWC.

I hope we get to see your Jewelled creations.

DV 106 Things With Wings

The challenge at Dream Valley today is Things With Wings. We are sponsored by Crafts and Me and the team were given some lovely digis to work with. I chose Poppy as that’s the name of my Dog!

106 Wings

I coloured Poppy up with my copics. Her basque is coloured with sakura stardust pens, and her wings, once coloured, were glittered with glamour dust. I fussy cut her out because I wanted to make her wings dimensional, and then stuck her back on some white paper, curling her wings up for that dimension. They also catch the light so much better than laying flat!

The papers are from two different months of a craft magazine, as it struck me that they went very well together when I was removing them from the centre of the magazines. Fancy die cut, Spellbinders, is cut from some Core’dinations paper and that has also been used as a background mat. I also used some Core’dinations in red to make a branch for the flowers and a decorative top piece, as I wanted to tone in with the background paper colours more.

The flowers are stamped and cut out of vellum with Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies, and then coloured with the same colours I used on the image. I did curl the flowers up a little, but I may have flattened them out slightly when I pushed the brads into the centres.

I am entering Poppy into:-

TMC 09 Triptych

It’s new challenge time over at The Mirror Crack’d and we would love to see a Triptych.

09 Triptych

I should have taken photos of this whilst making it but I have been suffering really seriously with a bad back and it was easier to just get on rather than keep getting up and down to get a camera.

I started with a blank MDF Triptych from Dutch Doobadoo, which I painted with white gesso. Then I used my gelatos, each panel slightly differently, to create a background.

With the lefthand side one I went over it with an Imagination Crafts stencil with white texture paste.

Honey

When it was dry I coloured the bees a little with some distress inks, and added glitter to their wings. Next I added a hat to, printed and then coloured up Honey from Vera Lane Studio’s fabulous Hope and Honey set of digi images with copics.

For the centre panel I created some sun rays with Tim Holtz’s stencil, and when dry shaded the rays with DIs. The Sunburst image is also from Vera Lane from her Buds and Birds digi set. I coloured up the Sunburst with copics.

Sunburst

The final panel I added texture paste through a Crafters Workshop stencil. I realised later that it sadly looked a little like rain, which defeated the object of the sentiment, but hey ho, it was too late by then.

For the image there I chose Honey, from Hope and Honey and coloured her with copics.

Hope

Before I stuck my images down I added some paint rings with various sized lids. I realised that the ones on Hope’s panel looked a little like hula hoops, so I positioned her over them to look as if she were about to use them. I created the sentiment on my pc. My little dog is my constant companion and I often tell her that she puts sunshine in my heart, which is why I chose the sentiment. As I am a little on the quirky side (okay yes, I am actually cracked!) I thought the image suited me well, although sadly I have a good few years on Hope!

Finally I edged all the panels with Peacock Feathers DI, and bound them together with some teal jute.

CCM 138 Make Your Own Background

Pamellia is hosting at Crafty Cardmakers today and she would like us to make our own background.

138 Own Background

I made my background with some white stamping card and a Moroccan Tile mask, which I sprayed Prima Color Blooms through in Iris and Glistening Waves.  I deliberately let it overspill instead of masking off the edges so that I would have an artificial mat to save me trying to colour match it. By the way, I discovered that Prima Color Bloom is awfully sticky when it lands on your table, lamp and long distance glasses!!!! *Makes mental note, must protect my work surface more thoroughly in future*

My lovely image is from the Polkadoodles Eden CD. It’s one of the fabulous pre-coloured images, which I was very grateful for as I am having severe back issues and I was in a lot of pain so didn’t want to sit colouring. I printed her and then edged her with the opposite colours to the background so that it would stand out a little better. Both the edge of the background and the image were then glittered with glamour dust. I love glamour dust because it’s intensely sparkly but it allows the colours beneath to shine through.

The gorgeous diecut above the image is from Sue Wilson’s Configurations Dies, and the flower is a Bosskut die, which I cut from some oversprayed card that I trimmed off and then glittered. The pearl and gem centre was in my stash, as was the birthday sentiment.

Crafty Boots Guest Designer Things With Wings

I am delighted to be a Guest Designer for Crafty Boots today. Their challenge is ‘Things With Wings’.

Crafty Boots Guest

Guest DT Badge

I made my background by embossing a Crafts Too feather folder and then swiping gently over with a blending brush with some Brilliance inks from the blue/green trio. I decided to have a play with my lovely new Kimono dies from Crafters Companion. I stuck a double sided adhesive sheet onto some paper (card would be too difficult to cut through!), and diecut the peacock, small bird and swallow, plus the flowers from the blossom branch. Then I peeled back the remaining sticky side and rubbed on some transfer foil.

The bird cage and branch were just left plain as was my lovely new Bo Bunny Lattice Frame and Lattice Centre die cuts.

I do hope you will pop on over to Crafty Boots and see what the rest of the Guests and the team have created and join in the fun.

ABC I Inspire Us

Our challenge at ABC today is I for Inspire Us, so basically anything goes. We are sponsored by The Paper Shelter and the team were given some of their lovely images to work with. I chose Moon Spell.

I Inspire 1

I coloured her with copics, and matted her onto some purple sparkly card to match her hair. The papers are from the sadly no longer trading Bearly Mine Designs, as is the gorgeous decorative swirl pattern behind the central image. I overlaid that design over the Mixed Media paper with a slight shadow. I glittered the moon, and added a metal corner and in the opposite corner a fabulous purple butterfly which appears to be holding a moon of it’s own.

I am entering this into:-
